THAT ONE DAY - Miu Miu Women's Tales #12
That one day follows the story of lonely teen skater Rachelle who after meeting an all girl skate crew finds belonging and fullness. Director Moselle first spotted Rachelle and another member of her skate crew on the the New York Subway and was mesmerised by them that she approached them in the hopes of working on a film project with them in the future. That opportunity arose when Miu Miu got in contact for her to create a film for Women's tales, Moselle knew straight away who she wanted it to be about.
This is still definitely a fashion film. Featuring clothes from Miu Miu's past and present collections Julie Brooke Williams worked with the girls who also provided their own clothes and sneakers to present a dream like post prom look, whilst still being true to their own styles. Rachelle's yellow combo alone will influence one of my outfits this week, no doubt. The film also lightly explores loneliness with a great scene of the girls emotionally discussing this issue and that of love. These typically deemed feminine aspects are balanced fantastically with the awesome skating abilities from The Skate Kitchen girls, the crew they all belong to. Visually it is beautiful and the soundtrack laced through the whole thing is superb too. It's here all below so have a watch too!
