The influence of New York and my new #funemployment status has left me feeling quite youthful and this is currently being played out in my outfit choices. Yes, London is still cold even though we have welcomed the merry month of March, and with that we are are still very much layered up. My choice of layers have seemed to have digressed a few years back with hoodies, tees and sweaters; and my current sweater which I have worn unashamedly three days in a row is my new Adidas number. Black, white and grey, a winning combo! I bought this in NYC a few weeks ago with the other statement piece of this ensemble, my....AIRMAX 90s!!!! I haven't purchased a pair of kicks for years. For a long time I wanted Air Max's but every time I picked up a pair on pay day I couldn't bring myself to part with the cash. However, with the dollar being kind and the cost of sneakers being cheaper in America I had to, and like my sweater, I can't stop wearing the suckers. Other than that, all the other stuff are just staple items in the wardrobe, except for the scarf which I stole...borrowed from my husbert. The photos above were taken running/jumping around Southbank in London, but next week....we are off to Hong Kong...say WHAT?!?! Cop the similar garms via the links below! 1. Adidas Sweater, Urban Outfitters. 2. Scarf, Topman. 3. AirMax 90, Footlocker. 4. Beanie, Benjart Clothing. 5. Black Puffer Jacket, House of Fraser. 6. Black Jeans, Topshop. 7. Grey Hoodie, American Apparel.
Photo:Kang Hye-Won for Vogue Korea 2013 I keep mentioning my upcoming travels, and though NYC is over and I'm writing this from London we still have the Asian and European legs to look forward to. Hoorah! One place on the itinerary is SEOUL and I am so freaking excited! Not only do some of my dearest friends hail from there (some real good peoples) and their food is drool worthy (bibimbap, anyone?) their style/fashion is so on point it hurts. I've posted content from Vogue Girl Korea before, also posted about their street style and recently started following this cool (south/republic of )Korean Style Insta called GarbageLapsap; so as you can see, the love affair is real. Therefore I was extremely happy to find this absolutely GORGEOUS editorial in Vogue Korea from 2013 from Ogh Sang-Sun. The stars of the shoot definitely have to be the modern styling and the beautiful Hanboks. The edgy and quirky accessorising adorning the traditional threads of many colours, all to the background of this great location is truly breathtaking. Apart from the name of the photographer my research has left me a little stumped as to who the additional team were (being written in Korean and all) but I really want to credit & acknowledge them so if you happen to know, please send me the info. The title image is from a separate editorial by Kang Hye-won, again for Vogue Korea which you can see here.
Happy New Year Bamboo Babies!!!! How has 2015 been treating you so far? For me it has been very busy, very exciting, at times worrying but all generally cool. Like mentioned previously I spent my last night of 2014 with my hubby and friends at a Hip Hop club in Brixton. It was a laugh and good fun but I am slowly feeling that "clubbing" is getting too young for me, haha. On New Years day my husband (lol, husband) went to Abu Dhabi for work photographing a wedding and was away for 5 days, so with that in mind I did a New Years crazy cleaning and laundry spree and spent time at my parents. Sadly my oldest sister became unwell and had to go to hospital and was in there for a week, however she is out now and is doing much better! I didn't go too crazy on the boxing day sales, however I did buy stuff. One being this new Topshop Mac! It was originally £150, then reduced to £75, I get further discount on a friends and family scheme so VIOLA! Just over £50 I spent in the end. I was worried it would be too long for me but I kind of like that, and I kind of like that I look like Inspector Gadget. I also bought a Nike drawstring bag, how throwback is that?! I remember in Secondary school this is what we used for schoolbags. It is actually a good size and handy when I go to Spanish class (oh yes, that is something I do now!) The furry hat I have had for ages, I think it was a Primarni jobby. Have you also noticed the little layout change? I have made it a little more simple. Hope you like it! Photos by Alexander Neumann for Vogue Mexico Two recent thoughts I was having have been dissipated with this featured Editorial Envy courtesy of Vogue Mexico via Fashion Gone Rogue. One, "Ugh, how am I going to Bamboo vibe it through Winter, it's impossible!" & Two, "There's nothing good on Fashion Gone Rogue anymore." Well, the fact that I am reposting from FGR means that Two is not true and One is being negated from these fantastic styling examples by Katie Burnett. We are in the depth of winter now being December and I was lost in finding my everyday, go to look that was me and weather friendly. What is Bamboo Style when it hits the minus? It is this! Leather for the edge, feathers and furs nodding to the earthy nomad dressing of the Navajo and some great chunky knits akin to the colder South American nations like Peru. Perfect! Model Alana Bunte looks cool too with her bold and strong hairstyle and piercing stare. I now need to play dress up when I get home! Photos via FGR
