As part of their campaign their romantic video 'Roshambo' has been making the rounds pre youtube clips. You know the kind, the ads that annoyingly play before your chosen video then you 'skip after 5 seconds', well when this clip plays, people continue watching. Have a watch (video below) and let me know what you think! I personally really like it, maybe this is the start of change for fashion videos everywhere.
Photo Free People via FGR Who is in the mood for LOVE? The clothing brand Free People surely are. With Valentine's day tomorrow I thought I would share this amazing editorial of their new collection. Free People are the hippy girl to Nasty Gals sassy girl, with lace dresses, flowing jersey and sun dresses making most of their collection. This shoot is no ordinary girl on film moment as the model share her frames with HBO's Girls actor Christopher Abbot (*swoon*). Graphic elements found here Oh how quickly a year rolls over. It feels like only yesterday I was covering my eyes and ears traumatized by the scenes in Korean Film hit The Chaser, sitting front row in a small room in the Korean Cultural center located on The Strand, people sitting on the floor squirming too at what was happening in the film, though gruesome, seriously gripping. This was just one of the many screenings part of the Korean Film Festival in London. Korea has been producing some really amazing movies, most of them enjoyed by niche group of film buffs and students abroad but there are the few breakouts that get people excited such like thriller Old Boy. What is cool about the festival is not only the array of genres they show, and the director Q&As BUT that lot's of the screenings are FREEEEEE! The big film of the festival this year is The Thieves which boasts one of the largest co productions in Korean Cinema and crosses over to Hong Kong cinema with a mixed cast. All my Korean friends here are keen to see this one so if that is not a good recommendation in itself I do not know what it. Visit The Korean Film Festival website to see the listings and see what might take your fancy.
Image found here Midnight in New York the new song and video for Solange Knowles' tune Losing You came out. It's amazing!! The song is so pretty, and chilled but with a groove beat and the video is stunning. Set in South Africa, she has sharp suited men dancing about, she herself is dressed in such amazing clothes and her extras are all freakin good looking and are all having a great time. Directed by Melina Matsoukas (who I have written about before) this is another video of hers that join her bank of other visual delights. Enjoy, the video is below! Hot couple alert in the form of He met Her. A super cute electro pop duo who released their EP Crime Novela this May. I first peeked them when I saw a cool photo of them and thought 'who is this mega styling United Colours of Benetton couple?!' After some Googlage I saw they were musicians and their tunes are GOOD! 80s/Pop/Electro all the good stuff. I also love their promo material and their EP website which showcases their songs and perfect fashion sense. I swoon at this multimedia cocktail!
Have a look at their video for their song 'Control', or click to their EP page for more songs and a GIF treat. Image: Even the Rain It is that time of year again when the Human Rights Watch film festival makes it's way to London. Starting on the 21st of March and ending on the 30th London cinemas such as the Curzon and Ritzy show an array of topical films concentrating on the issues of Human Rights. I went last year and saw two amazing features, first a documentary about the homeless in LA's Skid Row, and second a film about Kenyan education, and the fight of an 80 year old villager fighting to get his first grade education. Through clicking on the picture above you can see what films are showing over the 10 days. As I will be flying out half way through the run I have only managed to book two viewings however I am super excited at seeing Even the Rain, a story about the politics of water in South America and The Price of Sex a documentary regarding the issue of Human trafficking for sex services. I really encourage you if you are in the area or in any of the cities that the festival travels too, as they are all informative and engaging. They even have a selection of talks too with some of the people involved with the films. Seriously. Go. Here is the trailer for Even the Rain for you to check out: Images: ASOS Post Design: The Bamboo District I remember the days when ASOS was such a budget website that people would not really want to go on as it had clothing that B list celebrities wore. But hot diggidy damn, look at what it has become. It is the online shopping space for most people, men and women. The forefront of street styles and a production force in fashion media. I love their online magazine which gets sent to you or you can view online and they also always add a behind the scenes video of the cover shoot. Their editorials are very girly, stylish and fresh basically my kind of story! Check out these behind the scenes videos...you never know, you might get treated to a Bamboo one sooner than you think...
Seriously, I do not know what is up. Nothing has really been inspiring me that I feel is worthy of sharing with you all. Come on World Wide Web, fix up! Saying that I have been working away on some Fashion and Beauty content for Magnify Musings, working with some really cool girls to showcase some really cool stuff in those worlds. Also been sketching away and spending too much money on fancy pens, drawing out my final ideas for The Bamboo District's next collection. So I guess this really is the calm before the storm.
Actually there is one thing I can share...My new fascination with Hip Hop Lyrical dance routines. They are so good, and yes...I do imagine occasionally that I can do them myself BUT my two left feet will leave that all as said, a DAYDREAM. Have a look at these routines from So You Think You can Dance USA and accompany me on the daydreaming. When talking about fashion editorials I am a sucker for the following played out locations. 50s diners, carousels, backs of cars, fields with bales of hay and most of all American High Schools. That is why I love this look book for Luv AJ. The styling is colourful, feminine and still rebellious. Amazing accessories and seal the looks and the cut out skull jumper is now on my ever growing DIY list. If only I didn't have to wear a uniform at school, I wonder if I would of ever dressed this cool! *sigh*...however now that I think of it I did have pink hair! Do I get cool points now? PINK LADY: Luv AJ Lookbook from Claire Thomas on Vimeo. Whoop! We now have a new video on the Magnify Youtube channel, a short behind the scenes clip of one of the shoots for the Magazine. I am super excited about what we have instore for you via the world of Magnify and super blessed to be a part of it. If you are unfamiliar with what Magnify is check out the site: www.magnifyuk.com and the blog: www.magnifymusings.co.uk. :)
Video: Vimeo Considering Yoji Yamamoto is super private this little video is a gem to find! Amazingly shot, nicely short to prepare us for the full feature and just basically cool. This is what a fashion promo should be like. Do you lovely guys and girls have any favourite video lookbooks, behind the scenes features or short art/fashion films you would like to recommend? If so leave a comment below and I will check it out! Thanks in advance!!!
