designing our wedding invitations & inspirations
So knowing where, when and who the wedding would be for it was time to invite the guests. Being the aspiring stationary designer that I am, we decided we would make our own invitations. Many people hand make their own sets with cute crafty elements, handwritten pieces and other inserts but what we ended up with was graphically designed files which we sent to a professional printer to print for us, which we then bundled together to send out.
The thing with Wedding Invitations nowadays is that they do not have to be obviously “Bridal” anymore. We are not limited to an outline of a default Chapel featuring on the front, or faux lace borders or two Doves kissing to make a good stationary suite. You can reflect what the big day would be like with featuring elements of the location; having it in India? Why not include some Rangoli patterns and vibrant colours? Or is yours in an old heritage building? Why not base your suite on it’s crest if there was one. You could also use your favourite story book as a visual guide or something quirky that includes the timeline of your relationship. I say choose a theme and run with it! Our theme was the Mexican/Filipino mix….Mexipino one would say. We opted for Mexican tile based imagery in the colour way of the flag of the Philippines.
