Image via Google images 'Serge Seidlitz' Can you have art crushes? I know it is true you can have voice crushes (ask my best friend, and the case of the 'swedish' podcast) or 'OMG he plays the guitar' crushes and definitely camera crushes like my previous post on Ann He, but though potentially weird, I totally have a doodle crush! The object of my sharpie, pucca, edding pen crush is an artist called Serge Seidlitz!

I was watching the behind the scenes of the New Rihanna video for We found love when I saw it was Melina who was directing it. i have watched numerous behind the scenes of music videos before and have realised that she was the same female director who used to pop up here and there. I thought then she was cool, but now after even more research found out she has done some other equally cool stuff. In homage to the fact that it is fashion season right now, and in homage to the fact that I heart NY and exceptionally in homage to Jay Z, who is married to Queen Beyonce...here is an alternative version to his hit video Empire State of Mind found at his own style blog LIFE+TIMES. Starring: Selita Ebanks, Karlie Kloss, Constance Jablonski, Jourdan Dunn, Daphne Groeneveld, Edita Vilkeviciute, Hailey Clauson, Josephine Skriver, Zuzanna Bijoch, Shu Pei, Kristina Salinovic, Martha Streck, Toni Garrn, R’el Dade, Andi Muise, Ataui Deng, Chantal Stafford-Abbot, Kelsey Rogers, Ashton Phillips, Fabiana Mayer, Sabrina Nait, Sydney Edmonds, Claire Collins, Brenda Mutoni, Naoumie Ekiko, Sonia Niekrasz, Jenny Albright, Paris, Kaitlin, Lina, & Tian. My note: Loving how Selita Ebanks is the only one who looks like she really knows the words. Haha. Exploring the relationship between brand and consumer. Speaking to 10 influencial people in the modern fashion, branding, media, photography, marketing and design culture. Looking forward to watching the full thing.
If in 2010 watching Julia Roberts swan around India, Bali and Italy wasn't enough to make you question your sedentary lifestyle when it comes to travelling then I am sure these three STA sponsored short films from Rick Mereki will. If anything im happy i've been inspired to get a peach jumpsuit! we live young from alba&boy on Vimeo. Video lookbook of Australian site www.ilovemilkandhoney.com.au There are a few people I follow and keep up to date with online. No, not like friends or anything but I guess you can say Bloggers, Photographers...those kind of folk. Young photographer Nirrimi is one of them, I featured her in a previous post (http://thebamboodistrict.weebly.com/1/post/2010/11/girls-behind-film.html) about female photographers. I follow her blog which is on my links page and it is really nice to see such beautiful work, from such a beautiful girl. She captures an essence hard to explain but what I like is that you get a little insight in to her life, and that insight shows that she works hard at what she does. She collaborates with her boyfriend on numerous projects who also is a photographer, including the video above. Though young they are expecting a baby, and their anticipation for it all is actually quite cute. It got me thinking...I guess that is the dream really. Working doing something that you love doing, travelling all over the world with your love doing it together, raising a family and teaching them all about this big, wide beautiful world we live in...well I guess that is mine anyway. You can read about them too and see their work here: The Girl: http://weliveyoung.blogspot.com/ The Boy: http://noinever.blogspot.com/ Their Business: http://buycolor.tumblr.com/ This Youtube has been circulating the office today and for great reason. Working at a Advertising company we usually see the same types of campaigns through the same mediums but this ad stunt and collboration is so clever in a commercial sense (check the stats at the end of the video) but also an insight to the creative contribution that can happen in a project like this. For me personally, working on some advertising stuff for a side project this is quite an inspiration, and has opened up so many ideas and boundaries as to that advertising can me. Advertising is changing, it's really clever if you come to think of it...if not a little manipulative but then thats a whole different story there. Anyway, I went on a tangent...oh yes, check the video below, and it also features Jay-Z in it so there is fun for all! Just saw this video on my friend Ben's twitter. I miss it so bad... |
