Image: The Bamboo District Seems I can not keep away from B Town. 4th time this year. I think it is the short 45min journey on the train from Clapham Junction that does it. Anyyway, to continue a relatively new tradition (in it's second year now) the boy and I take one day out away from the busy streets of London leading up to Christmas and do some Christmas shopping there. Brighton is great for thrift and vintage finds, clothes that can be easily found in East London but with less tat. Also, what is even better is that you can get stuff around 20% cheaper (second hand wise) than in London. Whoop! Oh hello there! The day started out with The Boy being cheeky and telling me my hands looked dry, but then resulted in me getting a hand massage, yuss! Blue eyes. Brown eyes. Frooooty Don't let me go Boombox and Cassette tape? Hello 1990! Rudolph, who is your red friend we have here? SHOPPING "Which vintage black leather handbag should I get? So many to choose from!" BIG BOBBLE!!!! HeHeHe Action! I wonder if they are pretending it's summer in their film. Those elbows must be freezing! Hey there handsome. You want my number? Gutted for you if you have ever been taken here for a date... Gwan Grandpas with yo' bad selves. Bebe booties. From old to young... PM Pig. What? You are telling me Mexican Souvenirs aren't normally popular in Brighton? Strange. Fittie and Food. Double winnage! Poor tyke felt sleepy. TIme to go home!
I used to change up the banners on the site every few weeks on the old web format. I do not really need to to do that now with how it is currently but I did used to find it fun making them. Here are the majority of them that I thought I'd put together for fun.
I am Filipino, FYI. Though I was born and raised on the chilly isles of London, England. I have come across many a British or American Filipino fashion kid but I can't say I am well versed in home grown talent. I mean there are a lot of fashionable kids out (Bryan Boy) there but I couldnt name you a designer. Now I have learnt of the Philippine's version of Project Runway called the Mega young Designer's competition! Mega magazine is the most fashion based, popular publication in the Philippines and it looks like they are on the hunt for the next big talent. I have not watched a full episode yet, they break into English then Tagalog so it's tricky for me but I guess it is practice too. Come join in the fun with me and watch along....
Image: Arise Magazine In many cases BIGGER is definitely better, this is very true when it comes to HAIR. So go wild for the weekend or perfect it for New year, enjoy these awesome new styles from Arise magazine. Mostly for afro long hair but you can also tightly curl asian or caucasian hair and brush out for the texture....no excuses there, be wild. So you may have noticed that I am not the usual type of 'blogger' to shove up an inspirational thought on my roll and call it a day for my posting quota. Firstly...that is what twitter (@bamboodistrict) is for in my opinion and there you will find all my retweets of rapper Rev Run and 90s TV presenter Andi Peters' happy sayings until your heart's content, secondly; though quotes that I have seen are undoubtedly touching and meaningful I can't say they had stayed with me. Not like this juicy Confucius one above (Confucius? Why are kids not called this anymore?) which is something that has just supported a resonating feeling that has been totally apparent in my life recently. Therefore, if we are talking specific's it has sort of inspired what this post will be, a more personal post if you may...
Images: Google images 'matching nails and lips'. Design by The Bamboo District This is my beauty jam right here. So cute. Apparently it used to be a faux pas in the 80s or something...well good thing we do not live there any more! As for the purple and blue actually being wearable? Hmmm... Images and Design: The Bamboo District Tel got a faux fur like me, but hers is grey. So what a twinsies of an epic scale! Grey bear and brown bear in the house. I love these jackets, they are so warm and snuggly. Hers, is from...FC, duh, haha. Mine is from New Look, some really cute and not super expensive stuff from there, but remember when you buy high street, buy simple and classic or you will bump into someone wearing the same statement piece as you.
