There are so many variations to this look. For moi, the bigger and more tousled the better. However. it can look super chic on a bob too, or if groomed a little more can border on being a Veronica Lake kind of babe! Here are just a few other examples of the slide flip hair that I adore.
It's the third day in a row now where I've pulled out the hair clay to hold down my over grown fringe, titled my head forward, caned it with hair spray and flipped it over my right shoulder. This side flippy flippy do' is a look I always seem to come back to. Years back when my hair was growing out from a questionable Kelly Osborne undercut situation I started getting big round brush blow dries (this is when working at a Hair Salon) and thinking I was some 80s girlbabe with my huge quaff bouncing about. Then when my hair grew a lot longer I went through a super straight, short fringe Asian fantastic GoGo Yubari thing, but all the days I couldn't be bothered with hair straighteners, especially after a day where my hair was in a bun, again I went big side flippy flippy! Fast forward back to present days, again I am in a land of indecision whether to grow out my fringe or not so that teamed with it being summer and my life long desire to be that 80s babegirl I am here again with my hair side flipped.

I got my fringe/bangs/fringe cut a few days ago. I went for a really short style this time and has it more chopped into. I re-cut my fringe last year after trying to grow it out as I missed how fun it made up-dos look. Though recently my mind was paddling in the pool of regret and wished maybe I kept persevering and continued growing them out, that was until I kept seeing so many cute super shorter fringe styles, that were cut more chunky and less severe like a 24/7 Betty Page situation. So I went for it, as you can see for a lame phone photo above. Here are some better examples of some cuties rocking the style. Maybe it's something you may want to try? New Year, New Hair and all. Orginal Photo found here I started writing this post with the content originally being about super long girl hair, but instead I was swayed into writing about long hair...on boys! Last night my sisters and I were watching the coverage from the 2014 Golden Globes. Mr Jared Leto aka Mr "I felt like destroying something Beautiful" (him being the beautiful) was on stage accepting an award. First things first...THIS MAN IS 42! FORTY TWO!!! Secondly, he is the dreamiest Long haired man out there. As may sisters and I chatted about his obvious good looks and shiny long hair the camera started panning on another Indie Hollywood heartthrob, Jaoquin Pheonix. He too had long locks tied into a cool ponytail... a MAN BUN. These men looked attractive and even more manly in my eyes with this hairstyle, many of you out there might not be convinced that this could be. Certainly tis not the look for all, as you can see here; and if my Fiance happens to read this "don't worry babe, I don't want you to grow your locks" but there is something about a man who can pull this off. So I leave you with an array of Long Hair Lads, up and out; there are a lot of accompanying beards too. Enjoy. Images found via Pinterest 'Man Bun'
Halloween is but a few weeks away and though I usually do not celebrate this time seriously like some party animals I always thought that I would do my hair in this cute double bun style on the 31st! I like it's mousey vibe and how it is very cute but still quirky too. If I did head off to a party later I may just dab some eye liner on my nose, draw some freckles and whiskers and I really will be a mouse! With all this being said, I did blog about my Halloween outfit three years ago too. I went as Zombie Amy Winehouse (RIP). So Double buns...your cup of tea? Images via Pinterest "Double Buns"
Off to my third wedding within two months tomorrow and am looking at ways to make my outfits look LESS pretty. For some reason this season I have been erring toward the Prom, vintage cuts in pastel colours. I wore a really pretty pink dress from Oasis last week and went for the 'sweet' Stepford look with white pointed pumps, a knitted white cardigan and low bun. My make up was super simple and I think the only jewelry I had on were a pair of cute stud earrings. The setting was a beautiful Manor House in Aylesbury where there were swans!!!! ... ... However tomorrow's wedding will be in the city and will be among a large number of my friends so decided to quirk it up this round. I am still undecided between a Metallic Lilac dress from Oasis I got from the sales or this yellow Prom style my sister got for me at a sample sale, £4 Haaaay! The two are very cute indeed but need edging out a bit, so here are my suggestions in doing so! So here are a few ideas. Red lips are always considered a statement, they are just so bold and makes your lips POP. Why not throw over a cool denim oversized Wrangler style jacket over your dress or something even edgier...a leather biker jacket. Finally, accessories do not get more out there than a giant hair bow, this is the modern girls dress hat so it doesn't matter if it might block someones view. The mother of the bride and aunties will be doing the same. I think it will be a matter of choosing two ideas max out of the three if you were going to try them. It may be a little OTT with them all, but hey, that might be your schtick. I will let you know how I get along and what I went with in the end...if any! All photos found via Pinterest.
After a month of umming and hmmming I finally decided to go for the chop! No, not the whole shebang, just my fringe. I have had a fringe for a long time before but this past year I decided to grow it out, in the hopes of doing more 50s starlet style hair, which rarely ever happened. That said I brought fringey back, and it was a great excuse to pop in to Windle and Moodie a hair salon in Covent Garden. If you are looking for a new salon and in the London area why not try this one, I used to work here too! It's an amazing place with great stylists. I went to see the lovely Sergio as he cut me the most perfect fringe back in 2009, it was a Betty Page super sharp number and as that was the fringe I wanted back, I knew he was the man for the job. Everyone at the salon is good but if you were to see Sergio you are in good hands! A familiar backstage at fashion week shows, and the proud stylist of Magazine front cover looks like Issue 6 of Oh Comely magazine he will leave you with a style you love. Seriously, go see him. Check out some of Sergio's work on his website Images by The Bamboo District 2013 First Step by Step of 2013!!! To add to the Fun Bun and the Fake Fringe I now present to you...The Faux Bob. This is a step by step for those with longish hair, and who may occasionally want short hair. As of four years ago I had short hair, it varied from shoulder length to pixie and even an under cut using a number 6 clipper. I was adamant that I would never have long hair again as it would not suit me...now the tables have turned and I can't think there will be a time soon where I will go through the chop. However, there is a chicness of shorter hair that you do not get with long hair so that's why this fakey is great. Follow the stages below, it may seem a little tricky but with practice you will be an expert in no time.
1) Hello girl with long hair that you want to make short. 2) Hello girl who sectioned her hair in half horizonally, from the top of the left ear to the top of the right year and then tying the top section up to get it out of the way. 3) Hello girl who french braided across the bottom section of the hair and pinned the tail in with U pins against the head as this creates a little woven grid element that will make it easier in the future 'tucking' part of the tutorial. 4) Hello girl who has loosened the top section of the hair, brushed it and tied a hair band at a length a couple of inches below her shoulder. 5) Hello girl who has now braided the bottom end of the ponytail. 6) Hello girl who will now do the tricky part of tucking in the braided pony under the main body of hair, pressing it against the woven grid and then using U pins to secure it in place. 7) Viola! Hello girl with a FAUX BOB! DONE. Pics and Design: The Bamboo District This is another addition of my Step by Step series that I started with something I call THE FUN BUN. This time around I am reverting back to my old hair days when I had a serious set of bangs/fringe. I decided to grow them out after having them for around 10years, and though I am fairly happy with that decision there are days when I really do miss them. However, if my heart pines for retro Betty Page bangs then the scissors are not needed. Hooray! If you have no fringe, or grown out bangs from chin length down, then you can try it out too. Once done, draw on some cat inspired eyeliner for the whole pin up look. 1: Hello girl with a center parting and without a short fringe.
2: Hello girl holding a hair donut that you can get from most drugstores and hair shops. 3: Hello girl cutting the hair donut once to make a cylinder puff thing. 4: Hello girl sectioning the fringe area and brushing the hair forward over her face. 5: Hello girl who is holding the tip of the hair used for the fringe in one hand, and using the other hand to hold the hair cylinder which the hair is then wrapped around once. 6: Hello girl who is now rolling the cylinder with both hands up towards the root of the hair. 7: Hello girl and millions of bobby pins and U-pins who is securing the roll to the head. 8: Hello girl and a can of hair spray and a brush, cleaning away any loose hairs flying about.
