I have never been shy about my adoration of this woman! Solange Knowles has knocked it out again with this beautifully funky video for her latest single Lovers in the Parking lot. THe fashion, the location...THE DANCE MOVES. Ugh, PERFECT!
All of these fantastic images are by Ali Graham, find more of Jay's problems here. So this little hip-hop and illustration appreciator got super excited when she saw a link of her Facebook feed to this internet pot of gold! Have you ever wondered what Rapper Jay-Z's 99 problems were knowing that 'the bitch aint one'? Well wonder no more as illustrator Ali Graham shows us in these series of images depicting the struggles Mr Carter may face in his daily life. Whether everyday woes like granny friend requests to some obvious #richboyproblems like his Rolex being broken, to even existential conundrums like not being able to bring the future back in time! He is facing it all. These are so clever and looks amazing, I am so impressed. To keep up to date with these happenings follow Ali's tumblr 99 Problems!
Hot couple alert in the form of He met Her. A super cute electro pop duo who released their EP Crime Novela this May. I first peeked them when I saw a cool photo of them and thought 'who is this mega styling United Colours of Benetton couple?!' After some Googlage I saw they were musicians and their tunes are GOOD! 80s/Pop/Electro all the good stuff. I also love their promo material and their EP website which showcases their songs and perfect fashion sense. I swoon at this multimedia cocktail!
Have a look at their video for their song 'Control', or click to their EP page for more songs and a GIF treat. Images: Betty White & CDs This weekend will reflect the past week at my office, rotating between these three albums. Frank Ocean's Channel Orange and Nas' Life is Good aren't out yet but if you are fans seriously go buy them when released later next week. London's silky smooth Lianne La Havas' album is finally out too (thanks Jools Holland for showcasing this lovely) so cop that too! The artists have released streams of their records so have a listen now!
I usually don't double post in a day BUT this Mixtape is too good for you not to listen it at the start of the weekend! From Livin Proof my favourite monthly night in London. When I am there guarenteed I will be getting home in the early hours when the birds are chirpin!
I was watching the behind the scenes of the New Rihanna video for We found love when I saw it was Melina who was directing it. i have watched numerous behind the scenes of music videos before and have realised that she was the same female director who used to pop up here and there. I thought then she was cool, but now after even more research found out she has done some other equally cool stuff. Oh what a day can make. Scrolling through my twitter this morning I saw a music recommendation from a youth pastor I follow (yes, they can have good taste in music too) of an Australian band called Tiger Town. Not much has been written about them except they are all part of the same family, and that they have recently just released a self titled EP on itunes...and I have been listening to them ALL DAY.
Along side my undying obsession with Queen B Beyonce I have also been mesmerized by upcoming NYC singer Mara Hruby. Her beauty and talent are all just wowie...
So my lame previous post apologised for my lack of updating. The work machine has taken my time away from my blogging duties and these passed few weeks have been filled to the brim with socialbility! Here is a Summary of what I've been loving, enjoying and wanting: MUSIC Paul Anka's ROCK SWING. Yes, you read and speculated correctly. Mr Big Band himself has crooned his way through Rock's classics from past to present, sampling the likes of Radiohead and Nirvana! Maybe it is just me but it WAS NOT HIDEOUS! Thanking my lovely friend Benny for introducing me to this musical phenomenon, it has been on repeat a few times at my office already and proved to be the perfect background for my recent BBQ. SPORT Call me a geek, or more aptly a jock but I along with a fair amount of the world have screamed, shed tears, rejoiced and laughed at the 2010 WORLD CUP! The beginning resulted in me indoors most evenings even though the sun was shining, and when games were in the day I had my browser constantly refreshed to keep up with the scores. This wasn't even just for England games BUT I got soooo in to it I was cheering and booing along to random games like Paraguay and Nigeria! Few highlights...or just moments to mention; the final Ghana game, England being crap and the comic stylings of Argentina Coach Maradonna trying to manage on the Sidelines. With four teams left as I write this I think I'm for Germany to win! Controversial but... Update- The world cup in NOW OVER! Germany gots the boot! And Spain our the new winners, Viva Espana!!! SUMMERTIME SOCIALNESS Thank the good lord for some Sunshine these past few weeks. I was really considering the real possibility of running away to a place of certain sunshine but London has pulled through! Many a BBQ and picnic, too much pear cider and Pimms and everyone just being so cute and happy, wearing their cute little outfits. It was my birthday at the end of June and it was the hottest day in London so far! Below is a snap of a mini picnic scenario before we continued the party inside. FLICKR
Sometimes I find myself with a quiet moment at the office and just scroll through the millions and millions of images that are available on Flickr. This is definately a time and generation where Photography has become more mainstream, pushing excellence, creativity and originality to new levels. Give a kid a decent a camera and you pretty much get a good shot, but the more and more I look at some really amazing images I find it is more than that. It is about the spirit of the moment they capture and there is real beauty in it. It has inspired me in some styling ideas, though I would love to be able to take more photos and learn about photography more myself. The style I like is that pretty, woodland vibe. Sort of like Lula Magazine. Some Flickr profiles to check out are: www.flickr.com/simonfilip www.flickr.com/nirrimi (amazing 17 year old Ozzy girl) www.flickr.com/lookleftandlookright and here is a link to my lovely friend Jere's Flickr! The picnic picture, the blog banner and jenga pic are from him: www.flickr.com/artisticlane So these are a few things that have been filling my space and time. Things I am looking forward to in the near future: -West Coast Road trip. LA-LV-SanFran, aaaaggghhh, can't wait! -New material arriving from the Philippines, to make more pretty dresses -Seeing my lovely parents -Planned photoshoots! I will be sure to keep everyone updated and stop being a slack monkey. Mama Bamboo says Peace out! x |
