Guten Tag! A trip with the girl squad
In all honesty I didn't do much prepping or research about where to go and what to do. The night before I quickly skimmed the DesignLoveFest blog's Berlin travel guide and jotted down a few recommendations from people who had been before but usually I would have more of a concrete itinerary...however it is good it wing it sometimes right? As there were four of us we made sure there was at least one site we each wanted to check out, and they were the Street Food night at Markt Halle Neun, Eastside Gallery, Tempelhofer Feld and The memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe by Peter Eisenman.
True to form we also visited many nice cafes and bars, and on the Saturday night we watched the England vs Russia footy match in a German pub with a bunch of other English blokes! Some standouts for me were:
Umami in Kreuzberg
Zollpackhof to watch the footy and eat Bratwurzt mit pommes
Mustafa Gemuse Kebab recommended by Tel and Yemi
Paloma Bar, cool little hidden bar but be warn, people smoke like chimneys in there!
Roamers for coffee and brunch which was tasty BUT took sooo long for the food to come, we waited an hour!
Berlin is quite spread out and we didn't find one particular area or street that had a line of bars we could pop into and when we did it was all pretty mellow. However it did not stop us one night staying up until 7am making friends with random people while sitting outside an old man bar not realising the sun came up.
Here are some photos, taken by myself and Rhi!
